Marathons, Life Insurance and your heart!

This weekend London plays host to the 45th annual Marathon, featuring some of the world’s greatest athletes and thousands of keen runners who will all take on the route as it visits the capital’s most famous landmarks.

One of the former runners, our own Paul Sandilands, Founder & Non Exec Director took part in the 2003 London Marathon. He ran for the British Heart Foundation and raised over £10,000! Paul started to run to get fit after his brother James had died without warning, overnight, of a heart attack in 2001, aged 56, and from then on it was a natural progression to keep running, and he’s completed many half marathons since.

Whether first-time entrants or seasoned participants, they’ll all experience the rush of running and hopefully reap the rewards of all that hard work. Many will be running for charities including health-focused ones such as the British Heart Foundation; indeed, some may well have had cardiac events themselves.

At Pulse we believe that your medical history shouldn’t be a barrier to accessing life insurance. Over the last 6 months, we have sourced personal or business life insurance cover for those who have a history of congenital heart disease. This includes Brugada syndrome, Tetralogy of Fallot, Heart valve defects, coarctation of the aorta and cardiac events that have required the insertion of an ICD.

When reviewing this type of medical history, the main areas of risk we assess are stability of the conditions, compliance with treatment, the nature and severity of complications and symptoms.

Pulse recently were able to provide life cover for a lady who was planning to start a family and identified the need for valuable family protection life cover. She had been declined by the standard life market as she had been diagnosed with Brugada syndrome and had a precautionary ICD. Pulse were able to provide this valuable cover at a reasonable cost.

Pulse are here to help provide the valuable protection that you need. For more information, or to request a quotation, please contact [email protected] or call 01280 841430 Option 4.
